about me

I’m Brian Quijada — a Houston-based photojournalist and visual storyteller with a passion for capturing the intensity, emotion, and energy of sports. With experience photographing professional teams like the Houston Dynamo and the Sugar Land Space Cowboys, along with countless high school and NCAA championships, I’ve built my career around freezing moments that matter.

My journey began at Lamar University, where I earned a B.S. in Communication with an emphasis in Journalism and a minor in Photography. While there, I served as editor and photographer for the University Press, producing photo essays, digital stories, and in-depth visual journalism. Since then, I’ve worked with outlets such as the Beaumont Enterprise and Port Arthur News, covering everything from breaking news to major athletic events.

I’m grateful to have received awards from the Press Club of Southeast Texas, Texas Intercollegiate Press Association, and Pinnacle College Media Awards for my sports, feature, and documentary work. Whether I’m on the sidelines of a packed stadium or documenting local athletes chasing their dreams, my goal is always the same: to tell powerful, authentic stories through images.

Outside of photojournalism, I also share my love for storytelling by occasionally posting movie reviews, exploring film through the same narrative lens that drives my visual work.

If you’re here, I hope you enjoy exploring those stories.
