FULSHEAR – It was a tough end to the season for the Foster Lady Falcons, as they fell 6-0 to Katy-Jordan in the bi district round of the GA-DII girls soccer playoffs on Friday at Jordan High School.

The loss was another in a line of playoff defeats to the Lady Warriors for Foster, which lost first-round playoff meetings in football and in boys and girls basketball. Foster’s lone win in the budding playoff rivalry series came when the Lady Falcon volleyball team won the bi-district clash in the fall.

Jordan set the tone from the beginning with relentless pressure and strong offense. Jordan’s Sadie Sanders opened the scoring with a header and scored again just three minutes into the second half to complete a brace.

Jordan’s Jacey Clover also scored a brace, netting her first goal in the 25th minute on a free kick and adding another just a minute later to make the game 3-0.

Despite Foster going into halftime down 4-0, it showed resilience until the end. The defense battled under pressure, with key stops and clearances preventing an even wider margin. Foster goalkeeper Deena Hamdan came up with several saves, stepping up in difficult one-on-one situations and keeping her team fighting.

“I think that we were able to persevere and we played through, even though we were down 4-0 at halftime, we still came back. We played, allowed them to score two goals in the second half. But I think that just our perseverance today was valuable to us and to our game,” Foster head coach Sabrina Wilmot said.

Jordan continued to capitalize on their chances, scoring two more goals in the second half. Foster attempted to respond with a more offensive approach, maintaining greater possession than in the first half, looking to create opportunities on the counterattack, but Jordan’s defense held firm and denied any clear scoring chances.

Despite the loss, coach Wilmot said she is proud of how the team fought against top-flight playoff competition

“Going against a team like that, it’s always going to be a challenge. But my girls didn’t give up, and I’m proud of the fight they showed. Even though the scoreboard didn’t really reflect that, I think that they played a hard game.”

Foster ended it’s season 10-9, an improvement from last season’s 8-11-1 record.

Wilmot added that this season should serve as a big-time learning experience for the players Foster expects to return to their roster in 2026-27.

“I think just being able to play a team like this and see how cohesive they are, their passing, their touch, and their communication, that’s something that we need to learn to do and something we can learn from. I hope that in the coming years, we can get to that point and be an elite team like this team is,” Wilmot said.

Katy-Jordan (17-4-2) advances to the area round, where the Lady Warriors will take or Spring Branch-Stratford Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. The Lady Spartans advanced thanks to ar 8-0 win against Houston Wisdom.
